Whilst the outcome was not in our favour, we feel we won a moral victory on numerous grounds. The Justice found that there was no evidence that the Panel's assessment was other than a careful, fair and balanced evaluation.
The Justice made it abundantly clear that even though Madden acted within his legal bounds, his role was to perform an assessment of the environmental impacts, not give an approval for the development. The final approval responsibility rests with Minister Gavin Jennings and we will therefore be in touch soon with an overall Campaign Update (including a summary of the Court case) and to let campaign supporters know the next avenue of action to take.
Please see our attached media release, and the full judgment is available on our website page Friends vs Madden.
The battle to Save Bastion Point is not over yet by any means, and we will keep fighting just as strongly to achieve an appropriate solution for Bastion Point!
