Why have you approved the bitumen storage facility at Crib Point
For our outraged community its a sword to the heart' particularly as the
Government stated that the Bitumen facility would NOT go ahead and then
to be lied to discarding the costs and all the passionate efforts of a caring community.
Beautiful Westernport, the food bowl for penguins, is once again put at
further risk from pollution. It is an eco sensitive environment, a Ramsar site
with Marine parks that cannot withstand additional stresses.
This is not the whim of a green minority. 97% of the Crib Point, Bittern and
Hastings communities have opposed the Boral bitumen storage facility proposed for
Woolley's beach Crib Point. The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council opposed
it even the Port of Hastings Corporation oppose the locating of any coastal industry
south of Hastings. The Government's own planning enquiry panel, after hearing
all the opposing submissions from community members and groups, opposed it.
Please explain why you and John Brumby went against your own advisory
panels recommendations.
